Our time in Cuenca

This post features student writing.

¡Hola familias y amigos!

As reina (queen) of Monday, I’m writing to tell you all about our time here in Cuenca.

Sunday, we spent our first day with our Spanish families and our group split up to do different activities. My group went to the pool and enjoyed two yummy home-cooked meals: paella for lunch and a family BBQ for dinner. Other groups hiked to a river or simply bonded with their new amigos.

Monday we kayaked and had pool time all together in one “Spanglish” group. The water was a welcome relief from the heat. A highlight of the day: Sam and his Spanish brother Marcos managed to (jokingly) steal flip flops from almost everyone’s boat.

We spent Tuesday at the pool again. We played cards and there was also an intense game of soccer. Although Eric and Holden both managed to take a few spills, it was all in good fun and the game ended in a tie. We finished our day at the cine (movie theater), where we saw a Spanish rom-com and enjoyed a nice pizza dinner.

We are all having fun improving our Spanish and learning more about everyday life in Spain. Two more nights here and then off to Granada!

Hasta luego,

Annie
